Frequently asked questions...

What happens during a treatment?
To begin your treatment you will be invited to remove your shoes and socks and to lie on a comfortable reclining chair.  You will be offered supporting cushions and a cosy blanket to keep you warm – bliss!  Soft lighting and relaxing music help to enhance the therapeutic effects of the treatment while you close your eyes and relax.

Working the spine reflexAfter an assessment of your feet, a short relaxation massage will help to improve circulation and relax tight, tense muscles and ligaments, then reflex areas of the feet are worked using specific pressure techniques.

Many, but not all clients report some tenderness in some reflexes.  This is a normal part of the treatment process, and helpful in identifying possible areas of imbalance.

After your treatment you will be offered a glass of water while we discuss the treatment findings.  A treatment plan will then be devised which may include a change in diet or exercise regime, a recommendation to see your GP, or you may be shown how to maintain progress between treatments using hand reflexology techniques at home.  You will also receive an aftercare advice sheet, a hand reflexology chart and informative handouts if needed.

How will I feel after my treatment?
After your first few treatments your body may respond in a very definite way.  You may have feelings of well-being and relaxation or you may feel tearful and lethargic.

For some people, their condition may worsen for a day or two before it improves.  However, these symptoms may result from the stimulating effects of the treatment and if so, they are to be welcomed, despite temporary discomfort, as they mean that the body is in the process of cleansing and healing itself.

Drinking plenty of warm water and resting when you feel tired will assist in the detoxification process.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required will vary according to your state of health and your response to treatment.
Generally speaking, a minimum of four to six treatments at weekly intervals is recommended initially.

As your condition and well-being improves, the frequency of your treatments can be reduced to fortnightly and then monthly.

As testimony to the power of reflexology I, along with many of my longstanding clients benefit from regular monthly treatments to maintain mind, body and emotional balance.
